  • Bodily Fluids and Decorating

One thing I was never able to handle: bodily fluids. Blood is fine, anything else is a vomit factor. Which is why when my very sick, nearly 2 year old daughter hurled all over my bedroom floor, I felt a little ill. I noticed a long time ago that being a mom changes everything, including the level of grossness we’re forced to handle. I’d like to say I wouldn’t change my position for the world, but when puke is involved, the job seems slightly lackluster.   Needless to say, unprecedented cleaning ensued. Germ freak.

Lately, I’ve been helping my inlaws with remodeling their bathroom. I got to look at tile and tear walls apart. it’s really got me dreaming about flipping houses again. Am I the only person who gets such a kick out of mundane activities? Plumbing isn’t terribly hard when things don’t leak. It’s no wonder  plumbers don’t care about arriving at your house promptly at the time they tell you they will. They make such a huge dollar amount for a relatively easy job and have the leisure of telling folks they’ll be there between the hours of 8-5.

Meanwhile,  I’ve gotten back into decorating mode. I currently have 180 dollars worth of yummies in the “wish list” bin on www.ltdcommodities.com .
Amanda has three modes of neurotic  upset:
    1. Insane Cleaning
    2. Manic Decorating
    3. Total Meltdown
If I get vomited on again, we might just see a level three.

I’ve heard from Derek again and for all you family members: he’s safe still. He’s working 12+ hour shifts and getting very little sleep.

There’s nothing more to say aside from “GO TAKE A SHOWER” because baby vomit is gross.

Here’s Cait pre-vomit. Yep, she’s wearing my bra.

  • She is already better endowed than I am!

  • I never liked vomit and I don’t think I ever will.

  • @charlenedanityra - It’s gross enough ordeal to have to clean up one’s own vomit. It’s a whole other faction of “gross” to clean up someone elses. =) Parenting ROCKS!

  • ha, cute kid! :D *sniff* they grow up so fast! *wipes away tear*.

I know exactly what you mean by the mundane thing, I start brainstorming the moment I start picking stuff up off the floor, “hmm… I wonder if the couch would go better on the other side of the room… I just realized the piano is in a horrible place, I think we should move it…” stuff like that. color only plays a part when i have color to work with (and my house doesnt’ have color to work with….except BLUE… and white…)

You’ll grow used to the kid vomit thing, even if you’ve had issues your whole life, I have a sneaking suspiction you’ll be able to handle it XD. just from my past experiences with 4 younger siblings. the first 100 times I couldn’t handle it, but then my brother and sister had … shoot… I forgot. its when they spit-up alot, something to do with the acid in their belly’s, they spit up… ALOT. like, every time I turned the corner, XD.

anyway, just imagine when she turns into a TEEN >.> ugh i shudder at the thought.

    just kidding,

    My prayers to your hubby,
    =Nate

  • @Oriun - Thanks for the prayers, man. We can never have too many of those.

I’m the oldest of five and I really don’t remember tons of sick episodes. My mother was saintly enough to keep my eyes sheltered from the yuck.

White and blue house, eh? The colors of the Indy Colts. Good choice! I have to wonder if manic decorating doesn’t stem from the mind of an ADD child? “I’m bored soooo…. Let’s move EVERYTHING!!!!!”

  • haha, agreed(my grandma is the home color-person. (the only actual colors we have is my room:which is metalic silver, I doin’t actually have a room i live in the dining room… and the kitchen, which is green, both these colors blend nice together… until you add blue, it kinda doesn’t match with the type of green she has… (i’m actually quite into decorating and coming up with ideas along those lines, its kinda FUN! >.> HEY LOOK A BIRD))

OH DUDE> JASON MRAZ – THE REMEDY IS MY FAVORITE SONG SO FAR IN MY LIFE! oh mai GASH!!!!!!

you rock… looking at your list of music choices, I have just about every song on there! amazing. Feist is pretty awesome too! I just discovered Spoon. thank god for “downloading” (actually I prefer previewing the content! :P i’m not gonna buy something I don’t know if i’ll like or not). :D

big props on the music, and again, prayers go out! :)

USA ROCKS! but i might move to britain till the US dollar rises again >.> LOL. I can’t move to dubai because i’m not a muslim. :P its 6 dollars to whatever their currency is. and 2.5ish to the pound last i checked.

  • @Oriun - I love the term “previewing the content.” Props for you on that one. I’m a big fan of “sampling the music” via Limewire. By the way, I grew up in a house that was color challenged too. My bedroom as a kid was pepto bismal pink and the carpet? It was 1970′s shag in puke green.  Not joking. It’s so sad but true. Now do you see why I decorate? I have to correct the world of it’s past color sins.  I seek redemption!

    Viva la colores revolucion!!
