  • Happy April’s Fools Day!
PS, Did you know the origin of April Fools has to do with involves the Gregorian calendar reform of the late sixteenth century.?

The theory goes like this: In 1582 France became the first country to switch from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar established by the Council of Trent (1563). This switch meant, among other things, that the beginning of the year was moved from the end of March to January 1. Those who failed to keep up with the change, who stubbornly clung to the old calendar system and continued to celebrate the New Year during the week that fell between March 25th (known in England as Lady Day) and April 1st, were called April’s Fools.

  • Actually, I did not know that, (regarding the origin of April Fool’s) which is surprising because I have never not known anything before… did I mention I was also humble? :)   Thanks for the tidbit, I am always glad to receive more “utterly useless” facts and such. At least that’s what my friends tell me I am full of…when they are being nice about it.

Thank you for your compliments. I have never considered myself to be intelligent, or even clear in my writing/ responding. I often struggle deeply with trying to present my views, and Biblical truth in a clear way, so to see that it has been understood by at least one person is an encouragement. Hooked on Phonics worked!! :)

I actually lived in San Angelo for a short time. My ( now former ) wife was stationed at Goodfellow AFB, though she ( and I at one point ) were Army. I worked for McCrae Construction, which is off the loop in the NW area. I loved it there, and miss it at times. The only thing that took getting used to was the heat. West Texas has heat like no other place I have ever been! I remember working on a highway guardrail restoration with Mccrae just outside Mckamey (did I spell that right? I forget…) which is to the west of you. The coolest parts of the day were around 104 degrees. Ouch!

P.S. what is the true badge? I saw it in your response info, and a few others, but since I am relatively new, I’ve no idea what it is. Who can I bribe to get one? :)
