  • Hey Gang, sorry about the hiatus. The entire midwest is getting pounded by this flooding. If you have a loved one in this area and you haven’t spoken to them lately, now might be a good time to reconnect. So many people have *nothing* left. Between Indiana, Iowa, parts of Illinois  and now Missouri, it’s a disaster area.
Every street corner  looks like it’s covered in a pile of thrift store rejects and the local neighborhood bulldozer goes from house to house trying to take some of the trash off of people’s yards.

Flooring is ripped up and wet /ruined appliances sit dejectedly in the street gutters. People have been so neighborly. Every day that we’ve worked, people have come from whatever church is feeding the town for the day with plates full of food and bottled water. The air conditioner works again which hinders the further growth of black mold.  Contractors and lumber companies are having a field day with all the work piling up.

It’s funny. I always knew Texas was a friendly place because I grew up there. I saw people taking initiatives  to help others every day. But up here, I’d not witnessed it so much. Until the flood waters rose. As we pushed one car out of  waist deep water, the driver would hop out and help us push the next car out.  (By the way, pushing vehicles out of water makes you feel MANLY!)
I really felt a swell of pride seeing so many wonderful strangers turned friends.
That’s all the internet  time I have for now, but I should have access at least once every other day from now on.
    I love you all.
God bless you and your families.

  • Oh honey, glad you’re all right.  And it’s great that people have come together like that.  Funny how it takes a natural disaster for people to drop their differences and work together.  Why can’t it be that way all the time?

  • Wow. I guess that’s one of the few upsides in all of this: that warm, fuzzy feeling you get seeing everyone help each other out. I’m glad that things are starting to get better and hopefully they’ll keep moving in that direction as quickly as possible. Take care!

  • we have been praying for you and everyone over there so hard. I’m happy that you have such a wonderful community working together.good luck and God bless.

  • pushing a vehcile should always make you feel manly, but pushing one that is parhed with the emergancy break on. . . now thats’ SUPER MANLY. that’s how i keep up the crazy strength while maintaining my amazing gut. the side effects are worn down tires and spiffy anime hair.

seriously though, i’m proud of ya’ll for helping out. i’ve seen what’s in urban flood water, make sure you scrub your feet really well. i know you’re a germophob too, but germs can get in under your toe nails and cause some nasty infections. it happen in eldorado back in 2000 when we had our little flood.

  • Hey Amanda. I missed you too. And i’m glad i’m still alive. I can’t wait for you to be regularly on Xanga again. I really miss you.
