Eleven Weeks
I was sitting here thinking about nothing in particular when I suddenly felt a butterfly in my stomach. Just one. A tiny little flutter. I jerked up straight,
”HOLY SH*T, The baby KICKED!”I knew it was coming soon, but it caught me off guard. It becomes more and more real to me and I’ve really noticed my previously flat stomach has become increasingly pooched. I don’t blame the ice cream at all. (Does this big fat belly make me look fat?) I’ve been craving fried egg sandwiches and salsa. At 11:45pm last night, I insisted my husband make me a fried egg sandwich smothered in mustard. I sat there chowing down, completely disgusted with my choice of food. But what baby wants, baby gets. Nobody puts baby in a corner.
On Friday night after he’d had a few drinks, my beloved husband looked at me with his bright red drunken ears and said,
“You know what honey? I’m glad we’re already having another baby. We didn’t plan it, but it’s gonna be great. We’re just getting the big family we’ve always wanted a little earlier than expected. We really are going to be okay.”I really hadn’t been letting my fears get to me lately about all of the things that can/are going wrong in our plans for the future. But hearing him speak so honestly without any hesitance really affirmed my strength in the future. I know we’re going to be alright. At this point, I don’t know how. But it’s going to work out. Maybe not the way we planned it, but it will all happen. I’ve said these words a thousand times over the past few months, but it’s nice to finally believe them.
Our three year wedding anniversary is on Wednesday. Three years, three kids. If things continue at this rate, we might be divorced by year five and just living together in celibacy.
By the way, our baby is no longer the size of a kumquat. =)
11 Weeks (29 to go)
Your
baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a
fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and
close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear
under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.
She’s already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny
movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These
movements will become more frequent as her body grows and
becomes more developed and functional.Next week’s update: New baby belly picture!

Okay, but who the hell knows how long a FIG is?
I too, have been craving fried egg sandwiches!!!!
I know how big a fig is, but all the fruit comparisons are a little weird.
Our plans have not panned out exactly as we thought they would, either. For instance, we thought that by this time we’d both have our college degrees and would maybe just now be starting a family, but that is not what happened at all! We’re both 2-3 classes from graduation (which will actually take a long time to get behind us), and I’m ready to pop at any moment…but life is great anyway. We’ve received so many unexpected blessings. Thomas wasn’t exactly unexpected, but we never thought, for example, that we’d be able to buy a house before our first wedding anniversary.
Anyway, I’m rambling. But I completely understand what you’ve been thinking. Sometimes when I think about the future, I have to stifle a gasp of horror (*what have I done??*) but then I just scold myself for my lack of faith.
Got a name yet? er…I mean…list of names?
Ooh!! A kick! How exciting!!!
hahahaha… love this posting. when one of my best friends found out he was gonna be a daddy, he subscribed to an email list like the one you have there, telling him all about the baby’s development. so on the day that it said the baby was the size of a grain of rice, he and his wife brought a grain of rice to dinner. he drew a face on it and named it george and it even got it’s own place at the table. unfortunately, george got lost on the front lawn. fortunately, their son rowan is happy and healthy and a great big 7 month old now.
Ahem. A fig, more properly known as a Fig is precisely 1.936583272456883271465864876246125 inches in diameter. Assuming that is that you carry the two. Now this same Fig is also generally 12 c.c. in length, but only if you use pie. (Cakes never work out).
I know the pressures can really build when you realise that there are lives you are accountable for, but I am a firm believer that one of the gifts given us is similiar to one of the gifts given us in marriage. Being married shows us a little glimpse of unity with Christ. ( for the believer that is. and no, comment readers I do not want to argue about religion, my gloves are at the tailor’s at the moment) just like being a parent teaches us a little of the patience our Father has with us.
Enjoy your gifts, and know that HE feeds the birds of the field… they have no soul. How much more will He feed His children?
Awww…yay for your hubby saying what he did. *Grin* It will be alright, we all know this, and now he’s affirming it.
Yay for figs!

*laughs* You’ve become even more ridiculous since you’ve gotten remarried. I love our friendship and your encouraging words are always uplifting. Thanks D.

Why all the fruit references on these things?? I always thought it was a bun in the oven?

I’ve picked out quite a few names. My huband is kicked off the naming committee until further notice. He’ll be readmitted at a later date. For now, I don’t like his taste in names and he doesn’t like mine. I’ve been looking at Greek names lately.
You guys are going to be just fine
So what size comes after kumquat? Apple? Tomato? Cantalope?
oh man it so was not the fault of the ice cream. it was just the angle? maybe you were just looking in those goofy fun house mirrors? but darling – fried egg sandwiches with salsa? i get the mustard a bit more but salsa? ole!
** so glad 3W (third williams baby) is no longer the size of a kumquat — figs are at least somewhat recognizable to us non-mommy lay people. haha
You should know everything will be ok. It has nothing to do with your plans or your time. It all has to do with God’s plans and his time…… You know that. Yeah for figs….. Love you
FLYING EAGLE KICK!

*laughs* Excited is an interesting word to use. Surprised as hell is a little more like it. We won’t know the sex for another 10 weeks. It’ll be the longest 70 days of my life.
