My tiny little hometown has finally made national news.
Yep, the big Texas Mormon compound bust happened just a few miles outside of San Angelo’s city limits.
The beautiful Fort Concho that I grew up around is now a refuge for over four hundred children.  It’s shocking that such a thing could happen to my beautiful home state… but I guess even in Heaven, angels have turned and fallen. (can you tell I love my state?)

I wish like mad that I could be there to help volunteer my free time to the rehabilitation and support of these poor people. I’ll be back in Texas in three weeks, but by then I’m sure the majority of volunteering will have been completed. I know many of my readers live there now. Please, PLEASE donate. I’m quite certain they could use the help of staple items like paper goods or excess clothing. These people have left their world behind them. Please give the extra can of carrots or toilet paper hiding in your cabinets. Prove to these women and children that the outside world is a loving place full of a compassionate people. If it were you, you’d be thankful for anyone’s effort, no matter how small.
If you don’t do what you can to help, you’re not only disappointing yourself, but all those who needed you.
    God be with you all.

    WHEN I WAS HUNGRY, YOU GAVE ME FOOD;
WHEN I WAS THIRSTY, YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING TO DRINK; WHEN I WAS A STRANGER YOU
TOOK ME IN, WHEN I WAS NAKED YOU GAVE ME CLOTHING; WHEN I WAS SICK YOU TOOK
CARE OF ME, WHEN I WAS IN PRISON YOU VISITED ME. THEN THE RIGHTEOUS WILL REPLY,
LORD, WHEN WAS IT THAT WE SAW YOU HUNGRY AND GAVE YOU FOOD, OR THIRSTY AND GAVE
YOU SOMETHING TO DRINK, A STRANGER AND TOOK YOU IN, OR NAKED AND GAVE YOU
CLOTHING? WHEN DID WE SEE YOU ILL OR IN PRISON, AND CAME TO VISIT YOU? AND THE
KING WILL ANSWER, I TELL YOU THIS: ANYTHING YOU DID FOR THE LEAST OF MY
BROTHERS HERE, YOU DID FOR ME.

  • hay bunya, they are limmiting the people who could help or be near the compound people. they are very shy and protective of ech other. they are not really use to “outside” people. they are very thankful of everyones consern and some know that this is going on for their benifit. the kids are kids, they’re just rolling with it and playing around. the men are being kept on the compound and away from the anyone else. most of them are being jerks and a few are causeing problems. i think one of them got arrested today for messing with papers or something.

Hey Tio. I was just talking about you a few minutes ago. I miss you like mad and you’d better hang out with me when we get there in 19 days. (April 26th) It’ll be mom’s b-day. Come snuggle with Brunhilda and Thor. =)

  • okay, i’ll come see ya’ll and maybe brunehilda will be less shy around me.

    huggles

  • It was so strange turning on CNN a couple of days ago to hear, “Coming to you Live from San Angelo, Tx…”

It would be nice going down to Fort Concho and personally get involved with helping those poor people, I agree, but to second what Badtz said, just about every Texas Law Enforcement Agency that you can think of has that entire place on lockdown.  Take heart though; my Dad works at Wal-Mart and says A LOT of people have come in to buy toys and other little things for the kids.  Hopefully, this will all turn out for the best…

  • Sweetie as of yesterday no account had even been set up.  I was going to deposit a little money to try and take care of basics for some of the women.  When you get home they will just be starting on needing help it will take that long to allow the public to step forward.  Keep me posted as to what can be done.  Uncle Steve and I have a little set aside that we normally help family with, but as you know in some peoples eyes I am a bi— and my family has shrank.   love ya

Aunt Syndi, You gotta know this much: nobody on this side of the family could possibly EVER think that of you and your overly generous heart. I know whom you’re referring to and I know she still reads this site. If she says anything like that about you again, we’ll have strong words again. You’ve done so much for the family and those of us who are extended family by love, not necessarily by blood.
Any good Christian can tell you’re a wonderful and giving woman and blessed by the hand of God. Don’t let other’s opinion sway your opinion of yourself. You are BEAUTIFUL and I love you.
I’m looking forward to going down there to volunteer if they’ll accept me. I’ll also get the opportunity to remodel a little on my parents’ house. Are you guys still moving down there? I’d love for Derek to get to meet you both. He’s tired of hearing so much about you and not knowing the people I voluntarily claim as family. I love you both so much and look forward to having a beer on my front porch with you soon.
