  • The Envelope Please….

Okay, so the voting results for the music competition. I had ELEVEN people voting on email and EIGHT votes by phone. Get xanga my friends. Get xanga. I know you know the website or you wouldn’t be here now.  You don’t have to be afraid of committment.  Now, if I hear you griping after you see the results and you didn’t vote in the first place, you’ll be just like 60% of modern America. I want what I want the way I want it without having to apply any effort to get it. Was that a jab at people who don’t vote in presidential elections? Why yes, yes it was.

Before we move on to music,  say a prayer for the deployed men and women. Derek was deployed with a K-9 unit  who ended up getting repositioned to another area in Iraq.  Today we learned the K-9 unit’s vehicle was hit by an IED. The man and his dog lived with minor injuries, but the others in the vehicle weren’t so lucky. He’s got a wife and kids at home. Imagine getting that call.

And yet, so many of your friends and family members bitch about what a horrible job the troops are doing overseas and how much trouble they’re causing. The funny thing is, all I can see is a bunch of brave American men and women who have given their lives for these lazy slobs to sit around and bash them. You know who else gave their life for a bunch of lowlives? Jesus. Yet another example of a phenomenal soul who gave all so others could have the choice to give none.  *sighs* I’m sorry if this sounds horribly jumbled, but it’s late, and I’m mixing irrational anger with a lack of sleep. My five month old will be awake in an hour screaming uncontrollably, I just know it.

Tomorrow, Caity and I are taking swimming lessons. The funny part: the class is for kids 9months to two years old and will be heated to a soothing 82 degrees. Is this for your comfort? Not really. It’s so you can’t feel a temperature difference when someone pees in the pool.

    ONTO THE MUSIC!

So after tallying the votes on xanga, plus phone and email votes, I got about 30 different #1 songs and a few that had re-votes in someone’s top ten. So if you don’t see yours here, it’s not that it wasn’t taken into account, it’s just that you’re the only one silly enough to list it in your top ten.

Two songs had the same amount of votes for number one, so I made an executive decision for the number one slot:

    NUMBER ONE: WHAT IS LOVE?

    1. Come Sail Away

    2 Free Byrd

    3 Crazy Train

4 Killer Queen ( I was surprised at the number of votes this one had.)

    5 More Than a Feeling

    6 Layla

    7 Living On A Prayer

    8 Highway To Hell

    9 Walk This Way

    10 Bohemian Rhapsody

(Okay, I still can’t believe that Free Byrd beat out Layla, but whatever. I’m just one voice. One highly intelligent all knowing, superior brain-powered voice.)

  • I can’t read anymore…my head’s gone wacky…bobbing to the side…

  • I can’t believe “Layla” or “Walk This Way” even made the list. Why not “Dude Looks Like A Lady” or “I Shot the Sheriff”? Ech.

Further, I can’t believe “Bohemian Rhaposdy ended up ANYWHERE OTHER than #1! Travesty.

I must question the voice’s omniscience.

  • @SwordAndSacrifice -  *laughs* I like Bohemian Rhapsody too, but it’s just so standard. I was the only person who voted for Hotel California.(which didn’t make the list at all.*sad*) So trust me, my hand influenced very little of the placement of the ten.

  • Now that the voting is over I will read the final list to uncle Steve he felt assure the Chicken song would make it……. LOL  I wouldn’t post his votes they were bad……  You know the songs he sings….. love ya, I will continue to keep Derek in our daily prayers.  love ya

  • Now wait just a dern tooting high faluting second. I realize that I didn’t vote, but i got’s me sum rights! I want layla moved immediately to the top, because it’s oppression that holds it down man. I got rights! of course I know responsibilities are something I’m ‘posta have too and all, but hey.. I got rights! How dare you be so bold as to say I got’s ta do somethin to actually have my vote be heard. I should just be heard cuz i’m the most important thing. Ain’t nobody else gots rights too, only me.   :P :)

(me thinkest I doth protest to liberally (pun intended) )

  • @James3_1 - *laughs* wow, I’m originally from the south and I had to sound out your southern slang quite carefully. However, I *am* from a small town and I believe  Obama says I cling to my religion because I’m an ignorant small town fanatic. And by the way, just for you, I’ll move layla to the top of the play list.

  • @life_by_us -

Now dat wat i be talkin bout dawg! thats me getting mines respect :)

I told you about me having been in that small town you are from.. did you not read that? i think it’s neat that the world is that small.

Also, just realized, through my awesome powers of deduction, that your (husband?) Boyfriend? is deployed. Would it be alright if I kept you two in prayer?

I am sick of the families that are destroying themselves because of self entitlement feelings, and pride. I would love to pray that God uses this separation to make the two of you stronger together, rather than to drift apart. Thank you guys for all your service too. As former Army, I can understand the difficulties in these times, and hopefully I can pray away some of the pain separation brings… If it’s ok with you…

adorable munchkin by the way… Im jealous.. I want to be a daddy so badly… :(    :)

  • wow, you really did move it to the top. I’m humbled! Oh, and forgive this, I really can’t help it…

Super Mario Bros  Medley not medely.. :)   (runs before she gets out the water cannon)

  • @James3_1 - For what it’s worth, the website projectplaylist.com names the music, not me.  I noticed the grammatical error as well but I was willing to take the faux pau in exchange for the kick butt version of the song. I truly believe this would be my life’s soundtrack.

  • @life_by_us -

yeah, I realized that as soon as i hit “submit” and was in the process of trying to figure out how to phrase an apology for my succumbing to the addiction of grammatical correction. After I manage that, I will be forming a very nasty, and educating letter to those at project playlist, not only for this horrible (there I go again….) :)

  • @James3_1 - BTW, Derek is my husband and I would greatly welcome prayer. So far, the deployment has only helped our relationship. (although it’s rather annoying.) Derek and I were brought together by God and only by the hand of God will we stay  together. I learned long ago that the couples who don’t survive deployments wouldn’t have lasted in the long run anyhow. And I did just remember you talking about San Angelo. VERY small world, but I’m thankful  more than three people  in the whole world have heard of it.  I’ve lived my whole life there and really hate being away from there. Only in San Angelo can you  go to Wal-mart and bump into EVERYONE you know in the city. Only in San Angelo can you have a cool front  lower the temperature to a breezy 100 degrees.   It’s quirky, but it’s home. I can’t wait to raise my children there.
